Hearth & Home

I think we are a lot alike. You want a home that feels steady in an unpredictable world. A kitchen and pantry that produce abundantly. A household rhythm that brings comfort. A garden that nourishes your family and your soul. I'm right there with you. I created Hearth & Home for women like us, keepers of the home who crave beauty, refuge, and practical skills in equal measure.

For us, home is not a backdrop. It is not just another pretty picture. It is a bustling place of strength and provision that intentionally shapes our days and offers safe haven. If you would like to join a trusted community for women who treat home as craft, industry, and calling, this is your place.

Hearth & Home is a special place. You'll want to curl up with a cup of tea and meander the halls for hours and hours. I promise, you will find nothing else like it on the Internet. I would love to welcome you as a member!

How it all Began

It began at my kitchen table, with a notebook full of ideas and a heart for the work of home. The pages were filled with perfected bread recipes, notes on my sauerkraut method, sketches for an expanding garden, and lists for a pantry that could carry us through winter.

When I first started teaching about this more than 15 years ago, the internet was quiet on the topic of homemaking. Back then, it was nearly a forgotten word. Today, it seems to be everywhere, which is a wonderful thing! But trends have a way of passing as quickly as they arrive.  It feels worth mentioning that for me (and I imagine for you too), this has never been a passing trend. It is the life I have lived for decades: caring for my family, tending the garden, cooking from scratch, puttering in my apothecary, and preparing for seasons ahead.

Hearth & Home grew out of that rhythm, a gathering place for women who value the work of a home-centered life. Consider me your seasoned guide, someone who has walked many miles on this road less travelled. Hearth & Home is the culmination of more than 30 years of homemaking, gathered into a thriving community built to keep these skills alive.

"I have been appreciating this course very much. I am inspired by your pantry keeping and am in the process of turning my family’s into an abundant resource. I have tried many of your recipes and they are outstanding. I have made chicken enchiladas multiple times for my family since becoming a member only a few months ago! You have quality content and I appreciate your knowing, confident and humble delivery." - Paula

"I have truly enjoyed my time at Hearth and Home. After taking several of Heather's classes through the years, I signed up right away for the full year. Each week, this space is a touchstone out of the busy world and into the world I truly care about: my hearth, my home. Hearth and Home helps me remember what matters to me and reminds me that there are people like me in this world, women who are slowly and surely changing this world for the better on their small (or large!) pieces of land. I live on a 1/8 acre in the city, and this membership is invaluable to me - so it is appropriate for anybody, anywhere!" - Alaina
